Former Loyola Basketball player Demetrius Williams Named Player Of The Year in Romania

CHICAGO, Ill. - Former Loyola University Chicago forward Demetrius Williams, who graduated in 2004, was recently named Player of the Year in Romania after an impressive season.

Playing for Dinamo Bucuresti, the 6-foot-9 graduate of King High School averaged 17.9 points and 14.2 rebounds, while shooting 66 percent (93 for 142) from the field.

Williams was also named Center of the Year, Import Player of the Year, First Team All-Romania and was named to the All-Import Team. Thanks to Williams' consistent performances at both ends of the floor all season, Dinamo Bucuresti posted a 15-11 record and advanced to the playoffs.

At Loyola, Williams averaged 10.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 1.6 bpg in 57 games over two seasons. As a junior, he went for 22 points and 21 rebounds in a game versus Milwaukee on Feb. 1, 2003.
